  • LAD 13 @ CIN 12
Wild affair at Crosley Field as the teams combine for 17 runs in the final two frames.

The Dodgers appeared to have blown the game open with Bill Sudakis' pinch-hit three-run HR in the top of the eighth for a 10-3 lead.

However, the Reds stormed back with a nine run rally capped by Pete Rose's three-run clout. But Wayne Granger could not hold the 12-10 lead as Billy Grabarkewitz singled home the go-ahead run with two outs in the top of the ninth.
The Reds announced after the game that starter Jim Maloney suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon. The right-hander limped noticeably after issuing a four pitch walk to Wes Parker. He was helped off the field, and taken to Christ Hospital.

The Reds stated he will be placed on the disabled list for 60 days.
