A two-day total of 48,619 fans saw the Oakland Athletics make their first appearance in Kansas City since the club was moved westward. The opening game of the series was rained out. A Saturday game drew 16,747 and a Sunday double-header attracted 31,872. The A’s swept the series, and received a mixed reception from the fans. The only real indication of bitterness was contained in banners and remarks concerning A’s owner Charlie Finley.
