The Red Sox announced they had recalled pitcher Dave Morehead from their Toronto farm club of the International League and shipped out pitcher Gary Waslewski to the same club.

Morehead, 23, who has spent parts of four different seasons with the Boston club, was recalled after compiling an 11-5 record at Toronto. Morehead has a four-year record of 26 victories, including a no-hitter, and 40 losses. In 17 starts, the righthander issued 68 walks, struck out 109 and had a 3.21 earned-run average.

Waslewski, just 26, was assigned to Toronto after being tagged with a pair of runs in one-third of an inning by the Twins on Saturday night. The bombardment marked the fourth straight time Waslewski has been driven out in the early innings. He was 2-2 with a 3.55 ERA in nine appearances for Boston.
