As the second half of the baseball season commences, Pittsburgh’s Roberto Clemente continues his climb from one of the worst starting line performances of his career, and Baltimore’s Boog Powell continues the revitalization of his slugging career. Both players were named Players of the Week for the week ending July 14, 1968. Clemente batted .478 over the week of play shortened by the All-Star Game in Houston. Clemente homered and drove in six runs as the Bucs try to catch the front-running Cardinals. Powell hammered two home runs and also drove in six runs while batting .500 for the week.
